For any Ayurveda therapy plan the prerequisite is a sound anamnesis which will lead to an ayurvedic diagnosis.
It is based on this that a treatment plan is put together, containing one or several of the below mentioned forms of therapy.
“Even dry wood becomes soft and supple through the application of oil and heat – just imagine how it will benefit a living human being…”
Sushruta Samhita 15.41
Ayurveda consultation
The anamnesis and diagnosis (incl. pulse and tongue diagnosis) are the core foundation for any therapy plan according to Ayurveda medicine. The knowledge gained during a thorough anamnesis and the detailed evaluation of such will lead to an individualised therapy strategy.
Any diagnoses already made by western medicine or other health professionals should be available at our first meeting. Please bring doctor and laboratory reports with you or send them through in advance.
The constitutional diagnosis serves to determine which characteristics, strengths and susceptibilities are already attributed to you by nature. This is reflected in the so-called dosas Vata, Pitta, Kapha. Your constitution may be relevant for the therapy plan but also serves as an orientation for favorable dietary habits and daily routines.
Massage and manual therapy
The skin – our largest organ – is used, among other things, to sense touch and to absorb substances into the bloodstream.
Ayurveda pays special attention to these properties, as it is those especially that allow a tailormade treatment, by carefully choosing oils, herbs and the type of therapy or massage according to every persons constitution or ailments.
That is why manual therapy is one of the key elements of Ayurveda medicine. The benefits of massages, hot herbal stamps, warm oil applications such as the shirodhara (oilpouring on the forehead), local oil baths and other disciplines are noticeable on both the mental and the physical level.
Ayurvedic treatments have a positive effect on the overall wellbeing, they strengthen the musculoskeletal system and promote immunity. They are beneficial to the quality of sleep and the digestive system. Additionally ayurvedic treatments can help to regain ones own balance and provide deep relaxation.
A speciality at practice AYUSANA is a type of massage for women only. Whether it is to promote fertility, to balance the hormonal system or to assist with menopausal symptoms, the treatment is adapted to each woman’s particular needs.
Nutrition
According to the science of Ayurveda, nutrition is one of the most important factors in maintaining a healthy body and mind. It is also crucial to help recover from any temporary or longterm health issue. A thorough anamnesis may bring to light whether certain dietary habits are considered to be cause for or to promote discomfort. What’s more important, it will allow us to identify how nutrition can be used to your benefit and to promote health and wellbeing.
Taking into account your everyday circumstances and your environment is crucial to find measures that suit your needs. In a consultation tailored to you individually we will go into the forms of preparation, the food, spices, meal times and more. The goal is to define measures that will allow you to use nutrition in such a way that it is beneficial and health-promoting to you.
Phytotherapy
Many plants have special properties through which they can support body and mind during regenerative processes. Depending on the indication and need, taking herbal perparations, whenever possible of organic origin, may be recommended.
Ayurveda cleansing specialty treatments
The Ayurvedic cleansing procedures – the heart of the Pancakarma cure (five actions) of Ayurveda – are carried out on an outpatient basis. Depending on the indication, Virecana (therapeutic purging), Bastis (herbal decoction enemas) and Nasya (internal nose treatments) are performed.
These are framed by massages and should be supported at home by an appropriate diet and plenty of rest. They therefore require a great deal of willingness and compliance on the part of the patient.
Depending on the needs there are also cleansing treatments which are based exclusively on a special diet, herbal preparations and manual therapy.
